Who knew the iconic American retailer Marshall Field was also a textile manufacturer? In 1928, they built a loom capable of recreating luxurious Oriental rugs - no one could tell the difference between real oriental and Karastan.
This American brand made strong impressions on millions at the 1933-34 World’s Fair, where it underwent a real use test with amazing results. It was thoroughly stained by footprints, spills and food from more than 5 million visitors. Karastan cleaned half the rug to look like new while the other half was kept dirty. People now had no doubt they could trust a Karastan Rug.
