Everyone thinks that wood floors require special TLC. Denver Carpet and Flooring have some quick tips to keep them clean and like new. Here are some of the best advices to keep your hardwood floors looking its best in the years to come.
Damp mop
Water is wood’s worst enemy. Too much water is a no-no when it comes to woods as it can ruin your floors. Dip the mop in a bucket of cleaning solution and wring the mop out, making sure it’s as dry as possible.
Damp mopping is one of the best ways to deep clean wood floors. We recommend mopping the floor at least once a week.
Clean up spills right away
Standing water can penetrate deep into the wood and ruin the finish of a hardwood floor. Be sure to wipe up spills immediately with an absorbent cloth. To remove any residue, follow it up with a damp paper towel. Also, don’t forget to close the windows when you’re expecting rain.
Vacuum often
Many of you probably do this already, but we’d like to remind you anyway. Regular vacuuming keeps up its appearance and protects the finish as well.
A canister vacuum is best for this job, but if an upright vacuum is all you have, then that’s fine as well. Just be sure to turn off the rotating brush to prevent it from scratching the floor.
No vinegar
A lot of people recommend using water and vinegar solution to clean the floor. But if you care about your floor, you wouldn’t want to do this. The acid can etch the finish, making it dull.
