But the difference is that engineered hardwood flooring is made up of several thin layers of wood that is glued together, and then topped with wood veneer. In some cases, the top layer is made of real wood; thus, making it difficult, if not impossible, to tell them apart. The look and feel of engineered and solid hardwood is virtually the same.
Unlike solid hardwood, engineered hardwood is more resistant to heat and moisture. It is a suitable choice when solid wood is not. It can be installed in any room in your house, even in the basement.
